I went to the Monterey Food market the other day. Yup, now that's my new hot spot for fruits and vegetables for a good price. Papaya and Mango for 1/2 the usual price and I bought Rainbow Chard and cooked that up simply with some garlic oil and onions. I also finally found a place I can buy artichokes for a good price. Whoo-hoo! Lots of variety and the fruits are ripe, so I wouldn’t stock up all at once. Better parking and nicer people than Berkeley Bowl. The only disadvantage is that they don’t have much else than produce so you gotta make multiple stops if you're out shopping. Lots of Japanese product I noticed there, too.
The bowl lentil curry has some heat and is served in a pouch, but it's really good and I can't cook Indian spices with a limited pantry and limited know-how.
